Start from zero
Start with your first words. Build everyday conversations. Work towards understanding longer texts and explaining your ideas.
These levels organise practice. They are learning goals, not a promise of a level or an official SFI course. Move on when you can use the skills without the model.

First words, real beginnings
Introduce yourself, understand numbers and order something to eat. Start with lessons 1–6.
- 01The alphabet and pronunciationRead and pronounce å, ä, ö, the sj- and tj-sounds, and say your name.
- 02Greetings and introducing yourselfGreet people, introduce yourself and say where you are from.
- 03Numbers, time and datesCount to 100, tell the time and book an appointment with a date.
- 04Family and where you liveTalk about your family and your home using present-tense verbs.
- 05Shopping and pricesShop in a store, ask for prices and understand plural forms.
- 06Food and orderingOrder food at a café or restaurant and describe it with adjectives.
Can you introduce yourself and ask a simple question without reading?
Handle the everyday
Build on lessons 7–12. Write messages and practise conversations about home, work and health.
- 07Transport and directionsTake the bus, train and metro with SL, ask for directions and say what you did (past tense).
- 08Words for workTalk about your job, understand a schedule and use modal verbs (kan, vill, måste, får).
- 09Health and the health centreDescribe symptoms, call 1177 and ask questions with question words.
- 10Authorities: Skatteverket, Försäkringskassan, BankIDUnderstand what the authorities do, log in with BankID and use prepositions of place.
- 11Housing and rentingUnderstand a rental contract, contact the landlord and use possessive pronouns.
- 12Small talk and the weatherMake small talk about the weather and the weekend, and talk about the future with 'ska' and 'kommer att'.
