What this chapter covers

Trace Sweden’s change from an agricultural society to an industrial and increasingly connected country. Migration, popular movements, voting rights, war and the expansion of welfare help explain institutions that still shape daily life.

Build a sequence of changes, then connect causes and consequences. Avoid treating progress as automatic: rights expanded through political struggle, and the same history includes exclusion and abuses of power.
