How registration works
- Migrationsverket assesses whether you need the test and sends an instruction letter if you may register.
- When registration opens, follow UHR’s instructions. Use the letter’s code, BankID or Freja eID as directed.
- Read UHR’s guidance on identification and accommodations. A physical, valid ID is required on test day.
The language test has a separate rollout
The future Swedish-language test is introduced in stages. Planning dates do not identify an available sitting. For confirmed availability, follow UHR; do not book travel on the basis of a rollout timetable.

Section 6 of SFS 2026:451 sets a fee of 2 000 kr, paid to UHR. The transitional provision makes this apply for the first time to tests held in 2027. Tests held in 2026 are free.
Stateless people who have refugee status or hold a Swedish travel document are exempt under section 6. The amount comes from the regulation; UHR’s information page still says fee details will follow. The test fee is separate from the citizenship application fee and any study service.

Questions about dates
Is there a confirmed next test date?
No. As checked on 2 October 2026, UHR says the next civics sitting will be announced during autumn.
Does the October results window apply to every sitting?
No. Late October 2026 refers specifically to the pilot held on 15 August 2026.
Can QuickSwedish book a place for me?
No. Registration is handled by UHR, after Migrationsverket decides that you may take the test.
